Botulinum Toxin Aftercare
Botulinum toxin is a substance that causes muscles to relax after injection. Wrinkles are usually formed from excessive contraction of muscles as well as other factors. Reducing the contraction should result in softer, less noticeable wrinkles on dynamic movement.
Results & Longevity
- Results can take 7-14 days to show. The treatment area is best reviewed 2 weeks post treatment and your clinician may wish to “touch up“ your results.
- Longevity of results vary per person and can last up to 3-6 months.
- Please contact your clinician directly after 14 days if any movement or concerns after treatment.
- A “touch up” or correction can only be provided up to 4 weeks after initial treatment – any longer than this would result in inability to re-inject.
Side effects
- You may experience a mild redness, swelling or tenderness post injection. This is normal and is to be expected.
- Other possible side effects include numbness, itchiness, irritation around injection site.
- Headaches may occur after injections, but should subside – please consult with your clinician if these last more than 14 days.
- Bruising may occur immediately or just after injection.
- Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week after treatment.
- Do not touch, press, rub, or manipulate the injected areas for at least 6 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for 2 days post treatment.
- Avoid the use of Retinol or similar products 2 days after treatment.
- Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks after your treatment.
